Make New Friends but Keep the Old – Contact Friends After Graduation

As you read the following lyric, what comes to mind? “And as our lives change, from whatever, we will still be, friends forever.” If your first thought was graduating, you are correct! Vitamin C hit the nail on the head when she sang the song “Graduation.” That well known line from the song’s chorus holds true to many aspects of the day you finally put on your cap and gown. From saying goodbye to your college friends, to moving to a new city for a job, your life changes after graduation. Though you have your lifelong friends from college or grad school, as you move to new places, you will be making new friends.

Did you know that Whitepages can help you find contact information for your new neighbors in your city, or even your new coworker? Read the steps below to see how you can easily start reaching out to your friends in your new city.

Scenario 1: You want to find the number of a contact you met in a city sightseeing tour last week

Head to and on the homepage under the “people search” tab, type in the name and city of your (soon to be) new friend.

Now’s your chance to start calling! After you hit “search,” you’ll see a list populated with the address and phone number of the individual’s name you typed in.

Scenario 2: You love your new neighbors, and want to have a housewarming but haven’t received their numbers… yet!

Head to Once you’re on the homepage, click the “address” tab and type in your nearby neighbor’s address, as seen below.

After you click “search” you will see the neighbor’s contact information populate, making it easy to connect and form a friendship.

Remember, though you may be making new friends, you can easily keep the old. You can use the tools listed above to easily contact your friends from school even if they are moving to new places, too.

Does thinking about graduation make you feel reminiscent? For old time’s sake, don’t miss Vitamin C’s “Graduation.

WhitePages Connects Kids with Moms

As a mom, I have to say: I’m disappointed. But as a product owner for the most popular people search site on the Internet, I’m at least glad that we’re helping people to connect with confidence.

Beyond our expected growth rate, we saw a relatively significant bump in both unique visitors (+7%) and people searches (+10%) in the week leading up to Mother’s Day. Apparently, people don’t know their mother’s addresses and phone numbers. Nice.

Member Story: Using WhitePages to solve iPod mystery

Britt Stromberg

Britt Stromberg

We get a bunch of emails from WhitePages members telling us about their experiences with our services.  Some are heartwarming, some inpirational and some just plain funny.  Britt’s story is pretty cool, so we thought we’d share with our blog readers.

And if you have as story that you’d like to share in a guest blog, just shoot me an email and we’ll see what we can do. .

Hi. I’m Britt Stromberg, a WhitePages member.  I’m the owner of Wordslinger, Inc. and I use WhitePages all the time to look up client contact info, local businesses and people (oh hello college boyfriend…nice to know that you live in Ballard). The coolest thing WhitePages did for me recently was to make it easy to get the phone numbers of my neighbors for a block-watch list. I dreaded the thought of going door-to-door for that thankless task.

Make FREE Calls On Your Cell Phone

That’s quite a headline, but how does it work?  Today we launched a new Carrier Lookup service that gives you the ability to look up the cell phone carrier of your friends, family, and colleagues.   Why does that result in “free” calls?  Well, it depends on your plan, but most major mobile carriers include unlimited “in-network” or “mobile-to-mobile” calling in most of their plans.*  At WhitePages you can now discreetly look up the carrier for a given phone number and determine whether or not that person is in your network.

Increasingly, consumers are choosing to cut their home wireline connections in favor of being wireless-only.  This helps save money – according to a recent Nielsen report – about $33 per month.   As Saul Hansell pointed out in the New York Times Bits blog yesterday, one of the reasons for the savings is the free calling to other users of your cellphone company.

Our new mobile lookup service – easily accessible at lets you see which of your friends is in your current cell phone carrier network, or if you’re shopping around, determine the carrier to which you should switch.

We now have two important services for cell-phone only households:
1) Ability to
list your mobile phone – including privacy controls that allow you to hide the number.  This makes you reachable just like a landline white pages listing.  Why list yourself?  Think about it – wouldn’t you want to be reachable if someone found your wallet or if your neighbors saw someone questionable trying to get into your back door?

2) Our new cell phone provider look up gives you an easy way to save money on your cell phone bill by maximizing the value of unlimited in-network calling.*

*Some important notes (to lower the blood pressure of our lawyers): please make sure that you check your cell phone plan to ensure that it includes unlimited in-network calling; it won’t be free otherwise.   Also, there may be some rare cases, e.g. your buddy is in the process of porting (transferring) their number to another carrier, where our lookup may be inaccurate.  But for the most part, we hope that this will provide you with a simple tool to lower your bills.  We know that times are tough right now, so we’re glad to help – even in a small way.

Last but not least, please be assured that we won’t misuse the names and phone numbers you look up by spamming them with unsolicited phone calls or text messages to use our service – that’s not the way we do business.

We hope that you enjoy our new feature – let us know what you think.
