There are loads of marketing companies and tools to help new movers (including our own Moving & Home Improvement Center). However, in this last post on home buying tips, I’ll share how WhitePages.com can help you understand a neighborhood before buying.

For every buyer, there are a few businesses that you need to know are nearby – a Thai restaurant within walking distance for a Pad Thai fix, a neighborhood gym that is close enough to home that you won’t make excuses, or knowing if you’ll be able to get to that home improvement superstore before closing when you inevitably need more sandpaper at 9:45 p.m.

Our Business Search allows you to search for popular categories by ZIP Code – including many links directly to business websites, enhanced mapping/driving directions, even local ratings - so you can get a feel for the neighborhood before you even see the house for the first time.

I used the business search service to check out lots of services – health clubs, hardware stores, city offices and more. I know this is all the sort of information that a good realtor can provide, but would rather have my agent focusing on the important stuff – getting us the best price and the best house. Plus, I love the feeling of accomplishment in doing the research online myself.
