Ever wonder what it would be like to be an “Einstein” of your time?? Yeah, I’ve marveled at the thought of it too… But, let’s face it, there’s only one Einstein…well, maybe.

With the recent news proving Einstein’s Theory of Relativity, the brilliant minds at Whitepages thought it would be GENIUS to dig into our names database to see how many other Americans do in fact share a name with some of history’s big time inventing mavens. These Americans may not have the brains, but they do have the names!

Albert Einstein – There are 10 people with this name in the names database, the most in New York and Pennsylvania (2). However, there are a whopping 1,049 people with the last name Einstein, with the most in California (158)!

Alexander Graham Bell – Ring, ring…who’s there? No one. That’s right – There are 0 people in the WP names database with this exact name, but there are 231 people with the name “Alexander Bell”, the most in New York (26)

Isaac Newton – Yes, “Sir”. There are 45 people in the US with this name, the most in California (7).

Thomas Edison – LET THERE BE LIGHT! There are 72 people in the WP names database, the most in California (15)

Benjamin Franklin – There are 401 people in the US with this name, the most in California (38), with North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida closely behind.

So, maybe there is hope for all of these Americans. After all, great minds really do think alike!

  1. Jim Jarmusch says:

There is some validity in naming your kid after someone smart/successful. There is a chapter in Freakanomics which includes research about the power of names. The book talks about evidence that a name can influence how a child performs in school and even her career opportunities. Intriguing to say the least.
