The core team for the Email Listings project enjoyed some well-deserved celebration time at the Garage last Friday. Dave bowled the game of his life, while Keela, Ben and Greg gave Coomer a hard time for his Flock of Seagulls hair. He countered by making us all feel like grandparents when he genuinely had never heard of the band. Gene snapped some great pics – a few of which are below. Congratulations to team Magellan!

Today at our Lunch 2.0/Blogger Day event it was great to see so much excitement and passion for the new possibilites created by iPhone 3G. Certainly our moderator, Mike Arrington, was the perfect guy for the job, as evidenced when he asked me to call building security to haul away some poor soul who spoke up as a Windows Mobile advocate. Great set of apps demoed by our friends Ethan from Urbanspoon and John from Jott, in addition to our own soon-to-be-launched app. And the discussion itself was great too, with lots of audience participation. iPhone vs. Android? Monetization opps? iPhone killer app? In my book though (which is admittedly biased), the highlights were the near-physical confrontation between Mike and Joe, and also our very own iPhone-app-enabled speaker phone call to our soon-to-be-elected new prez!

Engaged Lunch 2.0 crowd packing the room…

When I was a kid I knew I’d grow up and be a rock star. People would pay money to see me sing and dance and entertain them and I’d be dripping in diamonds and have champagne and caviar and lobster every night. I’d have my friends be my back up singers and they’d live the life of luxury right along with me. We’d travel to exotic places and relax in hammocks hung between Palm trees. Then one day it hit me. I can’t sing.
But, it’s okay! Because now there is twelve. And on twelve I AM a rock star. And I can sing and dance, and even though people don’t pay money to see me, they ARE entertained. I’ve traded the champagne for the soda in the fridge, caviar for ice cream sandwiches and lobster for burritos and pretzels in the freezer. And I have friends with me. Our hammocks are ridiculously large, comfortable bean bags, and we travel to exotic places like bowling alleys and boxing rings (wii, it’s fun!). We get exclusive rink-side seats to air hockey games for FREE, and on Friday we all get lunch catered right to us. On twelve I am living the dream!

Hi my name is Kelsie,
My mom works at WhitePages.com and she brought me to work today. My favorite part of the day was playing Halo3 in the game room. We also went on a people scavenger hunt.

Contributing to this blog today is Jake, Kade, Lilya, and Kat. All of our dad’s work at WhitePages.com. Today was bring your kids to work day. From the wee hours on the morning bus to the ice cream sundaes awaiting at four, we’ve been working hard at understanding what our dad’s do. Not only have we been learning but we’ve been having tons of fun. Today we’ve had an information scavenger hunt, played games, had very yummy lunch, and with more to come.
The first thing we did was have a scavenger hunt. Our mission was to collect as much information about the people in the different departments as we could. We asked them about their favorite thing about working here, and a lot said free food. We also asked them about their jobs, which confused a lot of us. Going up and down the elevator and running around the office building was very confusing as well. We took pictures and collected business cards in order to remember the different people.
The next thing we did was play. There were ton’s of video games along with ping pong, air hockey, and mad libs. Not only did we get to challenge our parent to competitive games, but we usually won! The mad libs told a silly story of a bring your kids to work day, and they made us all laugh. While we played the games we sat on these humongous bean bag chairs. If they were monsters they could eat us! The littler kids liked jumping all over them.
Arguably the best part of going to work with my dad was all the free yummy food! All through the day we had tons of snacks for the taking. They ranged from gummy bears to cheetos, along with every kind of soda ever made. We also had The California Pizza Kitchen come in and fix us lunch. Although there was no pizza, we pigged out on different pasta dishes that were just as good. Later we get ice cream with tons of different toppings!
For the most part the best thing about going to work with my dad, was spending lots of time with him. He showed me a lot of what he does and introduced me to all his friends. Everything that involved being with my dad was super fun.
All in all the day at my dad’s work was very cool. With the scavenger hunt, all the games, and all that food there was never a dull moment.
